Why a Plausible home screen widget is a snapshot

Widgets require Pro. They show cached visitor counts. The OS, not Tracksible, decides when they refresh.

Widgets require Pro. They show cached visitor counts. The operating system, not Tracksible, decides when they refresh. This is not a live dashboard on the home screen.

This article also reflects Tracksible source behaviour reviewed on 14 September 2026.

A widget is not the app

The app is the dashboard: live visitors, charts, sources, goals and insights. A widget is a small snapshot you glance at without opening anything. Tap it to open the site.

Do not treat the two as the same number at the same second.

What Pro actually puts on the home screen

Home screen widgets require the one-time Pro purchase. They are not included in Free. See pricing and the widget page.

The snapshot is a recent visitor count, not a continuously updating live view. We do not publish a refresh interval in minutes. iOS and Android control background refresh timing.

iOS fetches; Android receives prepared stats

On iOS, the widget extension copies the instance address and the API key or share-link token, then fetches statistics itself.

On Android, the widget receives prepared statistics from the app. It does not independently hold the same fetch path.

That difference is about how each platform builds widgets. It is not a promise that one OS is more “live” than the other. Both remain snapshots.

If the number looks wrong

Work through the boring checks before assuming a bug:

  • Same site, date range and timezone as the open dashboard.
  • Pro unlocked. After a reinstall, restore the purchase and add the site again.
  • Network connectivity.
  • Background refresh allowed for the app.

Support repeats the widget FAQ. Credentials copied for the iOS extension are still device storage; see the privacy policy.
